BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will be published on Saturday, calling on young officials to grow into people capable of shouldering the mission of the times.
The article by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in this year's 13th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.
The article urges young officials to become people who remain loyal and worthy of the trust of the Party and the people.
The healthy growth of young officials has a bearing on the cause of the Party and the people, which must be carried forward by future generations, says the article, urging young officials to be loyal to the Party and dedicated to the cause of the Party and the people.
The article stresses the importance of firming up the faith in Marxism and striving for the great ideal of communism and the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The article warns young officials to guard against corruption and moral decline, noting that corruption is the most serious problem, easily leading to subversion of political power.
It is important for young officials to foster the right view on performance evaluation, it stresses.
"Communists must bear in mind that benefiting the people is their greatest political achievement," the article says.
Party officials must be pragmatic and down-to-earth. They must resolutely put an end to practices such as making big statements instead of taking concrete measures, it adds.
Young officials must make themselves competent and well-versed in genuine skills, and integrate theory with practice, paying special attention to gaining true knowledge and building capabilities through practice, the article notes.
Stressing the need to enhance a strong sense of responsibility and a fighting spirit, the article says Party officials, especially leading officials, should meet difficulties head-on and take proactive steps in the face of risks.
"Only by exhibiting courage and ability to fight, can we win dignity and initiative, and effectively safeguard the country's sovereignty, security and development interests," it says.
The article asks officials to improve both their approach and ability in connecting and working with the people.
Leading officials should better study, understand and use the internet, surf the internet often, understand what is on the people's minds and their aspirations, pool good ideas and suggestions, and actively respond to the concerns of internet users by resolving their doubts, it says.
